Tradune vs Ziggma
Ziggma and Tradune both start from your own holdings, but they answer different questions: Ziggma grades the companies you own on a 0–100 score, while Tradune measures whether the way you bought and sold them beat a plain index fund.
Checked on October 16, 2026 against Ziggma’s own pages · sources listed under the table.
Tradune is a fit if you want your money-weighted return measured against SPY on your own contribution dates, plus backtesting, SEC insider and 13F signals and US tax-lot and wash-sale reporting.
Not a fit if you want brokerage accounts linked automatically, a single quality score for every holding, or impact and values screening — Ziggma offers all three.
Ziggma is a portfolio-management tool built around a 0–100 Ziggma Score for each holding, a Portfolio Checkup, a screener that filters by score, fundamentals and impact, and virtual portfolios — a close conceptual analog to Tradune.

The last 2 rows are things Ziggma does that Tradune does not — they are in the table because leaving them out would make the comparison flattering and wrong.
Where Ziggma is strong
- A Portfolio Checkup that rolls holdings into one score, a diversification measure (HHI), a beta risk factor and portfolio yield
- Brokerage linking from its first paid plan, and unlimited manually entered or CSV-imported holdings on Free
- Impact X-Ray and values screening, for investors who want to see what each holding funds
Where Tradune goes further
Ziggma scores what you hold; Tradune measures what your choices returned — a money-weighted XIRR against your own cash flows replayed into SPY, with the method published — and adds backtesting, SEC insider and 13F signals and a US realized-gains, wash-sale and tax-loss-harvesting workflow. Free for everyone right now · no card · nothing to buy.
Specifically, versus Ziggma, the gaps it closes are:
- Backtesting not listed; the optimizer and model portfolios sit on its Investor tier
- SEC insider-cluster tracking and tax-loss harvesting not listed on its pricing page
- How portfolio returns are calculated, and against which benchmark, is not described on its public pages
How Ziggma and Tradune compute the numbers
| Question | Tradune | Ziggma |
|---|---|---|
| How returns are measured | Money-weighted XIRR on your dated cash flows, plus a time-weighted (TWR) base-100 curve. Under a year of history it shows a cumulative return and does not annualise. | Not described on its public pages. The Portfolio Checkup reports a portfolio score, diversification (HHI), a beta risk factor and yield rather than a return method. |
| Trade-level history | Every buy, sell, deposit, withdrawal and stock split is a dated transaction; cost basis and returns are recomputed from them. | Free tier takes holdings by manual entry or CSV import; paid plans add linked brokerage accounts. A transaction-history method is not described on its public pages. |
| US cost basis and tax lots | FIFO, LIFO or average cost per portfolio; realized gains split short-term vs long-term, with likely wash sales flagged (same symbol bought within 30 days either side). No specific-lot selection. | No cost-basis method or tax report listed on its pricing page. |
| Getting holdings in | Manual entry, or a positions CSV (ticker, quantity, cost basis; up to 200 rows). No automatic broker sync. | Manual entry or CSV on Free; links 1 brokerage account on Starter, 5 on Investor and more on Expert. |
| Benchmark comparison | A SPY twin: your own cash flows replayed into SPY (dividends reinvested) on the same dates; SPY and QQQ on the TWR curve. | Portfolio beta is measured against the S&P 500; a portfolio-return benchmark is not described on its public pages. |

Is a Ziggma Score the same as knowing whether you beat the market?
No, and Ziggma does not claim it is. Its Stock Score rates each company 0 to 100 on growth, valuation, profitability and financial health, and the portfolio score is the weighted average of the holdings’ scores. Ziggma says the framework is transparent but the exact indicator weights are proprietary. That is a view of the quality of what you own today.
Whether your buying and selling paid off is a separate, backward-looking question. Tradune answers it from your transaction dates: what your money earned, and what the same dollars would have earned in SPY on the same days. A high-scoring portfolio can still have trailed the index, and the two numbers are most useful read side by side.
What does Ziggma offer that Tradune does not?
Three things, all verified on Ziggma’s own pages. Brokerage linking starts on its Starter plan, so trades arrive without manual entry; Tradune never connects to a broker. Impact X-Ray and values screening show what each holding funds and let you exclude industries, which Tradune does not cover. And Ziggma’s Portfolio Optimizer is pitched as a way to test a trade before you place it.
Tradune’s optimizer plots an efficient frontier for the assets you hold, and it adds historical backtesting, Form 4 insider-cluster detection from SEC EDGAR, 13F ownership changes and a realized-gains report with wash-sale flags — none of which appear on Ziggma’s pricing page.
Frequently asked
Is Tradune a good Ziggma alternative?
If the question you want answered is whether your own picking beat SPY on a money-weighted basis — with backtesting, insider and 13F signals and US tax tooling around it — Tradune covers that. Ziggma is the better fit for a per-holding quality score, impact screening and automatic brokerage linking.
Does Tradune have a portfolio score like Ziggma?
Yes — a portfolio health score, plus deeper risk analytics (VaR, beta, drawdown) and a stress test. Tradune’s per-stock Grade publishes its full methodology; Ziggma keeps its exact indicator weights proprietary.
Does Ziggma link to my brokerage account?
On its paid plans, yes: Ziggma’s pricing page lists linking 1 investment account on Starter, 5 on Investor and more on Expert. Tradune does not link accounts — you enter trades or import a positions CSV, so it never holds brokerage credentials.
