Know what a bad month could actually cost you.
A green portfolio tells you nothing about its risk. Tradune measures the downside directly — Value-at-Risk, beta, volatility and worst-drawdown — across everything you hold, so "how much could I lose?" becomes a number instead of a feeling.
Returns are visible; risk is invisible
You can see your gains at a glance, but the risk you took to get them is hidden until the market shows it to you the hard way. Two portfolios up the same amount can carry wildly different downside. Measuring risk turns that hidden exposure into something you can actually look at and decide about.
Value-at-Risk, in dollars you understand
VaR (95%) answers a concrete question: on a typical bad day or month, how much could this portfolio lose? Tradune computes it from your holdings' real return history, so the figure reflects your actual concentration — not a generic market average.
Beta, volatility and the worst drawdown
See how hard your book swings relative to the market (beta), how much it bounces day to day (volatility), and the deepest peak-to-trough fall it has lived through (max drawdown). Together they describe the ride, not just the destination.
Personal, not generic
Every number is computed across your specific positions and weights. As your holdings change, the risk picture updates — so the exposure you’re reading is the one you actually carry today.
Risk metrics need real price history. If you only want a quick read on how concentrated a list of holdings is, the free portfolio grader turns tickers and weights into a diversification grade in your browser, with no account.
What you get
- Value-at-Risk (95%) across your holdings
- Portfolio beta vs the market
- Volatility (standard deviation)
- Maximum drawdown (worst peak-to-trough)
- Computed from real return history, no fabricated data
Frequently asked
What is Value-at-Risk (VaR)?
VaR estimates a loss threshold at a confidence level — a 95% VaR of –9% means that, based on history, losses worse than 9% happened only about 5% of the time. It is a way to size the downside, not a guarantee it won’t be exceeded.
Does VaR mean my losses can’t be bigger?
No. VaR describes a typical bad case, not the worst case. Real crises can and do exceed it — which is exactly why Tradune pairs VaR with stress testing and max-drawdown, so you see the tail too.
Where do the numbers come from?
They’re computed from the historical returns of your actual holdings via real market data — no placeholder or mock values ever enter a figure about your money.
Is beta the same as risk?
Not quite. Beta measures how much you move with the market; volatility measures how much you move at all. A low-beta portfolio can still be volatile for reasons unrelated to the index. Tradune shows both.
